Clare Bassett

Clare began her professional ballet training at Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto. She has also studied at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and completed the two year Graduate Dance Program with Arts Umbrella in Vancouver where she worked with renowned choreographers Gioconda Barbuto, Margie Gillis, Simone Orlando, Shawn Hounsell, Roberto Campanella, Serge Bennathan and Jose Navas. In 2009 Clare danced with Ballet British Columbia’s choreographic workshop program Surfacing, in collaboration with Arts Umbrella. In 2010 Clare participated in the Movement Invention Project in New York and in 2011 she attended Springboard Danse Montreal. She toured the Netherlands with the Arts Umbrella Dance Company in March 2011, working with Dutch dancers and performing in Groningen with Studio Group of Noord Nederlandse Dans. Clare has performed with The National Ballet of Canada in James Kudelka’s The Nutcracker and The Contract. This is Clare’s first season with Ballet Kelowna.
