Ballet Kelowna Tour Information for Presenters

Ballet Kelowna is available during the Fall Season between October 1 and November 25 and the Spring Season between February 1 and May 15.

Repertoire: Ballet Kelowna, one of Canada's ten professional dance companies, and BC Touring Artist of the Year, presents a "mosaic of dances" on its evening-length program.  A typical evening program of 4 – 5 dances will include at least one classical pas de deux from a great traditional ballet, a new commission from a contemporary Canadian choreographer and a more classically styled ballet. For example, one of our previous programs included the Peasant pas de deux from Giselle; Romanza set to a group of Chopin mazurkas and costumed in beautiful waltz-length tutus for the ladies and elegant doublets for the gentlemen; stage within, newly commissioned choreography and score, is a deeply moving, contemporary piece; and Romeo and Juliet Appassionata set to Tschaikovsky and telling the familiar story with six dancers in 18 minutes! Before each dance, Artistic Director David LaHay gives an entertaining and informative overview of the work. At the end of many performances, the Artistic Director moderates a question & answer between the audience and the dancers.

Fees:  Negotiable and dependent upon the following: provision of accommodation and/or block booking with neighbouring presenters and/or schools.  Email Tour (at) BalletKelowna.ca.

School Program: Ballet Kelowna has developed a one-hour, age/grade appropriate school program which will introduce a general school population to the life of a dancer. Students will see dancers preparing for and presenting a mini-performance while the Artistic Director provides an informative and entertaining narrative.

Master Classes/Auditions: Where requested, the Artistic Director will provide Master Classes for senior dance students (minimum 5 dancers) and Auditions for Ballet Kelowna and Okanagan Summer Dance Intensive. (www.osdi.ca) Fee: $25.00/student. (Scholarships available for talented students without resources.)
