Our dancers are back and gearing up for their first test: Breaking Boundaries which opens on Fri. October 14 & Sat. October 15 at the Kelowna Community Theatre and then tours the Interior.
According to Artistic Director David LaHay: “This fall season offers ‘Something Old and Something New’. Only back in the studio for two weeks, the dancers have already had the pleasure of remounting Toronto choreographer D.A. Hoskins' transcendental The Lark Ascending with the choreographer present to engage and challenge them with this emotional work.
The big excitement this week is having Montreal choreographer Shawn Hounsell with us to create a new work for Ballet Kelowna." A nationally renowned choreographer, Shawn premiered his first full-length ballet Wonderland with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet; which was performed in Kelowna last spring. His exciting commission for Ballet Kelowna promises to enliven our present repertoire and captivate our audiences.
Members, sponsors and friends are invited to meet Shawn and the dancers on Friday, Sept. 2 from 4-5 PM at our Studio to get a sneak preview of the new work.
