The Nutcracker Making Memories Performance
Kelowna Community Theatre, Sunday December 9th, 2012, 2 to 4 pm
Presented by: The Canadian School of Ballet and Ballet Kelowna
Thanks to the generosity of title sponsor Thom & Associates Financial Planners Inc., the fourth annual Making Memories, a very special performance of The Nutcracker, will be presented by the Canadian School of Ballet and Ballet Kelowna. All 856 seats in the Kelowna Community Theatre will be made available - absolutely free - to youth and seniors who would not normally have the opportunity to attend.
The Nutcracker is a holiday favourite and long-standing tradition. The first ever Making Memories performance of The Nutcracker was initiated in 2009 by Ken Thom and fulfilled a long time dream of Lori Larson & Mel Brown, previous owners of Canadian School of Ballet, to bring the beauty of ballet to those with diverse abilities and economic backgrounds.
The overwhelming success of the inaugural Making Memories performance made dreams come true, created lasting memories and for many, formed a life changing experience for the many first time theatre participants. The Nutcracker Making Memories performance not only entertains, it inspires and educates.
"Being able to attend The Nutcracker performance with my 4 children was such an amazing experience! All my kids, ages 5, 7, 8 and 10, were so attentive and enthralled with the play from beginning to end. There is no way they would have had that memorable experience without your generosity."
A committee comprised of community partners organizes Making Memories and makes their members aware of this wonderful opportunity to ensure that no seat goes unfilled:
Canadian Mental Health Association, Cops for Kids, Families in Touch, Kelowna Gospel Mission, Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs, The Bridge Youth & Family Services & YMCA-YWCA.
Attendees are provided with a stocking filled to the brim with gifts, coupons and holiday sweets.
Ballet Kelowna is a registered charitable organization and able to issue charitable tax receipts eligible under Canada Revenue Agency guidelines for donations of $50 or more.
