"Beauty of style and harmony of space depend on simplicity" - Plato
Barbie Ross
Design and details are my passion. As a strong visionary, I enjoy all genres of design. My challenge, from the original drawings to final inspection, is to match a good design with my client's dream and desires. My education started in childhood, building forts at the lake, continued at the Bassist Institute of Design, in Portland Oregon, and went into practice building my 4000 sq ft log home and has been constantly growing in my work on residential and commercial properties over the past 40 years. One major highlight of my career is the Sun Rivers Golf Resort Community in Kamloops, BC during 2004-05. I was the lead designer on this project which encompassed a major clubhouse, pro shop, lounge, restaurant, corporate offices and banquet facilities. The project also included the neighbouring community of 43 homes. I pride myself on knowing a vast amount about each trade's specialty, building codes and leed inspired choices. I thrive in a team environment. Being hands on and a well organized communicator are the goals I strive for to make the entire experience a pleasure. Vision, implementation of the facts and materials, expertly executed embodies my passion with integrity for great design, leaving a legacy for all to enjoy.
St. Nicholas Ave.
Martin Metcalfe
My early life was a mosaic of cultural exposure. Living in foreign lands has cultivated my multicultural perspective on design. A fast-paced ten year Hawaiian restaurant ownership experience has since been juxtaposed with a design career on the serene Okanagan stage. The fifteen years of owning my retail store, St. Nicholas Ave. and my bed and breakfast, Brackenwood Gardens, has presented me with the limitless opportunity to exercise my creative flair. I've had the privilege to support the community I live in by contributing my love of design for high profile fundraising events such as Heart of Gold, Evergreen and Homes for the Holidays.

"We don't just do bedding at olive & elle, though we must admit we do that rather well. We also stock a carefully selected array of wares for you and your home. With a combined background in fine arts, interior decorating, and a general knack for knowing how to make things look good, our stellar team of Linda Povarchook and Kandace Marton work to help our customers find joy in quality linens and simple indulgences for the home. These range from bathmats of the plushest cotton, furniture made from locally sourced reclaimed wood, and hand poured candles, the scent of which evokes the memories of summers spent toasting marshmallows over a campfire. In the three years that we've been open, the pleasure we have derived from sharing these treasures with customers, who have become our dear friends, is immeasurable. When someone leaves olive & elle, whether it's with linens or a trinket for the fireplace mantel, we hope that the joy we share really helps them to make their house a home."
