Ballet Kelowna: 90-Minute Masterclass (Ages 10+)

Join Ballet Kelowna for an inspiring 90-minute masterclass designed for dance students ages 10 and up. Led by Ballet Kelowna Rehearsal Director Joanna Lige, the workshop begins with a one-hour traditional ballet class, during which Joanna will share valuable insights drawn from her extensive professional experience as a performer, educator, and rehearsal director. Students will then have the opportunity to learn an excerpt from Ballet Kelowna’s repertoire, gaining insight into the work's creative process and distinctive movement vocabulary ahead of Ballet Kelowna's performance at the Kelowna Community Theatre. In addition to the workshop, each student will also receive a complimentary ticket to Four Voices, on Saturday, November 7th.
Ballet Kelowna: Two-Hour Masterclass (Ages 12+)

Join Ballet Kelowna for an inspiring two-hour masterclass designed for dance students ages 12 and up. Led by Ballet Kelowna Rehearsal Director Joanna Lige, the workshop begins with a traditional ballet class, where Joanna will share valuable insights drawn from her extensive professional experience as a performer, educator, and rehearsal director. Students will then have the opportunity to learn an excerpt from a new work by Joanna Lige, gaining insight into the work's creative process and distinctive movement vocabulary ahead of Ballet Kelowna's performance at the Kelowna Community Theatre. In addition to the workshop, each student will also receive a complimentary ticket to Four Voices, on Saturday, November 7th where her new work will premier.
Workshop Instructor: Joanna Lige
Joanna Lige is a graduate of the Dance Arts Institute (formerly the School of Toronto Dance Theatre), holds a Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies through the Royal Academy of Dance, is a Certified Progressing Ballet Technique Instructor, and a member of the International Association of Dance Science and Medicine.
Ms. Lige grew up in Kelowna and has trained with the Canadian School of Ballet, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, The Banff Centre for the Arts, Peggy Baker Dance Projects, SITI Theatre Company, Hubbard Street Dance Company and FACT/SF Summer Dance Lab. She has performed work by Sharon Moore, Michael Trent, Danny Grossman, Julia Sasso, Peter Chin, José Limón, Bill James, and Sarah Chase. Ms. Lige continues to be involved in movement creation in the Okanagan and has collaborated with the Inner Fish Theatre Society, Evolve Arts Collective, and the Body Project.
With Ballet Kelowna Ms. Lige has worked alongside Guillaume Côté, Cameron Fraser-Monroe, Simone Orlando, Esie Mensah, Alysa Pires, Jake Poloz, Robert Stephen, and Kirsten Wicklund to support their choreographic vision in creating new works for the Performance Season. She has also had her first choreographic commission for Ballet Kelowna in 2026 alongside Donaldo Nava and Kurt Werner for their work Threefold Beat.
